IBM Blue Box Dedicated Gets Hip with HIPAA

IBM Blue Box Dedicated Gets Hip with HIPAA

As IBM Blue Box continues its destiny to evangelize our offerings across industry segments, we’re pleased to announce the general availability of our HIPAA-enabled Blue Box Dedicated offering. Healthcare workloads, governed by HIPAA regulatory requirements, now have a place to call home.

The role of the cloud in healthcare is changing—it’s maturing and becoming the platform for innovation and business value. The first phase of the cloud was all around cost— we wanted cheap compute and cheap storage. Cloud computing that powers dynamic infrastructures, to improve agility and scale—to fully utilize IT resources to improve operations.

This is perfect timing...

Building Your Billion-Dollar System of Record

Building Your Billion-Dollar System of Record

Ajay Agarwal wrote an enticing article recently, advising those in the SaaS space to pay attention to software that acts as a "system of record" (SOR). He defines SOR as "software that serves as the backbone for a particular business process." Agarwal sees SORs as a potential unicorn farm.

Because SORs are so structurally critical for operations, they're hard to rip out and replace. They solve common business problems that are outside the interest and expertise of client firms. This leads to services that are both required and permanent. Those that capture market segments, like Salesforce and SAP, become valued at billions of dollars. Agarwal encourages...

Who says elephants can’t dance at a karaoke bar in a pirate costume?

Believe it or not, I’m an old timer at IBM—this May will be my 12th year at big blue (gasp). Starting just after my freshman year of Electrical Engineering school, I’ve been around long enough that my hair has even started to turn blue.

My favorite part about working for this 105-year-old company is the culture redefining the boundaries of what we do. Last year alone, I traveled to five continents as an advocate for IBM Cloud, led college students in a game of Twitter-based Smash Bros with camels in Marrakesh, flew over Fremont Street in Vegas on a zipline with customers from Electronic Arts, and hosted a...

Beyond Interconnect 2016: What’s next for Blue Box

Beyond Interconnect 2016: What’s next for Blue Box

Our team was recently on-site in Las Vegas for IBM InterConnect, and it was clear that interest in Blue Box is at an all time high! This is especially encouraging given what we have in store for the coming weeks. Here’s a sneak preview of three important product functionality expansions that we have coming soon.

Blue Box Local on PureApp

One of IBM’s greatest strengths is its incumbency with enterprise accounts. IBM has had a brand and a portfolio of products called Pure in market for many years. This product line, headlined by a fully automated software suite called Pure Application, and a converged rack-level appliance called Pure Flex, has proven to be valuable to many IBM...
